Charles E. Drum , MPA, JD, PhD is the founding Director of the National Center on Research, Knowledge Translation and Dissemination at the American Association on Health and Disability (AAHD). Previously, he was Director of the Institute on Disability and Professor of Public Health at the University of New Hampshire (UNH) and Assistant to Associate Professor of Public Health and Preventive Medicine at Oregon Health & Science University. Dr. Drum is an established leader in disability and health issues, focusing on health promotion, health care access, and health disparities. He has produced over 250 peer-review and knowledge translation publications and obtained grant support more than $32 million.
He was the founding director of the Center on Community Accessibility at Oregon Health & Science University. He is a widely published author including numerous journal articles, reports, book chapters and training curricula, and he is the lead editor of the first textbook on disability and public health, which was co-published in 2009 by the American Public Health Association and the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. His honors and awards include the National Distinguished Disability Research Award, presented in 2009 at the Southwest Conference on Disabilities.
